Darmstadt - a city of science and a city of living arts

It was the home of the avant-garde since the early 20th Century. The Art Nouveau style of the artists' colony on the Mathildenhöhe was the center of the German Reformation movement in Germany, around the turn of the century, followed by the development of the Bauhaus style.

The Darmstadt theater twice was a major force in this century, lastly under the director Rudolf Sellner.

New science, new literature, new music, new theater.

Darmstadt was always open to the spirit of the future. Therefore, Darmstadt continues to be an interesting and important place for Europe in the coming century. The favorable environmental conditions are again supported by the unusual geographic position in central Europe, together with excellent access to the Rhein-Main Airport, the surrounding highways, railway stations and commuter trains.
